O Capitol Punishment foi um evento pay-per-view promovido pela WWE, ocorreu no dia 19 de junho de 2011 no Verizon Center em Washington, DC. O evento substituiu o Fatal 4-Way na cronologia dos pay-per-views da WWE.

Antes do evento[]

No dia 6 de junho como havia determinado o general-manager "anônimo" R-Truth pediu desculpas por seu comportamento nas edições anteriores da Raw e com isto garantiu o direito de se tornar o desafiante número um pelo WWE Championship. Foi confirmado também que os antigos aliados The Miz e Alex Riley se enfrentariam no evento. Na edição da SmackDown do dia 10 de junho Randy Orton desafiou Christian para uma luta pelo World Heavyweight Championship. Ainda foi confirmado através do site da empresa que Wade Barrett defenderia novamente o WWE Intercontinental Championship contra Ezekiel Jackson. Na Raw do dia 13 de junho foram confirmadas as lutas entre Big Show contra Alberto Del Rio, Rey Mysterio contra CM Punk e que Kofi Kingston defenderia o WWE United States Championship contra Dolph Ziggler no evento.

O evento[]

Na primeira luta do evento Dolph Ziggler derrotou Kofi Kingston para vencer o WWE United States Championship, Ziggler vence após um "sleeper". Alex Riley derrotou The Miz, Riley venceu após um "elevated DDT". Alberto Del Rio derrotou Big Show, o árbitro deu a vitória a Del Rio após Big Show não conseguir ficar me pé após ter recebido um "cross leg breaker". Ezekiel Jackson derrotou Wade Barrett por submissão para vencer o WWE Intercontinental Championship, Ezekiel forçou a desistência de Barrett com um "Torture Rack". CM Punk derrotou Rey Mysterio, Punk venceu após um "G2S". Randy Orton derrotou Christian para manter o World Heavyweight Championship, Orton venceu após um "RKO", o árbitro fez a contagem apesar de Christian estar com o pé nas cordas. Evan Bourne derrotou Jack Swagger, Bourne venceu após um "roll-up". No evento principal John Cena derrotou R-Truth com usando o "Attitude Adjustment" para manter o WWE Championship.[1][2][3]
